Traditional Khmer Wedding – Preparation
A Siem Reap ho avuto l’onore di essere invitata ad un matrimonio tradizionale Khmer, in Khnar Village.
I matrimoni Khmer si svolgono sempre nella stessa stagione per motivi propiziatorii, e sono cerimonie ovviamente importanti, anche dal punto di vista economico. La festa dura per due giorni interi, a volte di più. Il primo giorno si tiene il rito tradizionale Buddhista, nella casa della sposa nel suo villaggio, con musiche e balli del folklore cambogiano. Dalla sera stessa, fino al giorno seguente, la festa vira sulla disco sudest asiatica – chi c’è stato può intendere subito il genere.
Ringrazio la persona che mi ha invitato, Chheng Vibol, grazie alla quale ho potuto vivere una giornata memorabile, che non dimenticherò. Ringrazio il gestore del Senses Suites Hostel di Siem Reap, prodigo di attenzioni, e, non ultimi, ringrazio di cuore i miei ospiti, la sposa, Chheng Srey Yan per la sua gentilezza e grazia, lo sposo e tutta la famiglia che mi hanno accolta con simpatia facendomi sentire davvero felice.

In Siem Reap I have been honored by an invitation to a traditional Khmer Marriage, in Khnar Village, near Angkor Wat.
The Khmer marriage ceremonies usually take place in the same month, for propitiatory reasons. The wedding is very expensive for a normal family budget, lasting up to 2 days. The first one is the day of the traditional buddhist ceremony, which takes place in the bride’s house, with folkloristic musics and performances. Then it turns into a modern southeast disco party – if you have been there, you know the kind of music I’m thinking.
I want to thanks Chheng Vibol, who invited me at this unforgettable day. Thank you, Senses Suites Hostel manager ( which I don’t remember the name, sorry! ) for your consideration, and, last but not least, thank you to the beautiful bride, Chheng Srey Yan, for your kindness and grace, thanks to the husband and the family all, for welcome me with open arms made me happy.
